Hey how ya been? It's been a quiet month at International King Teen Newsletter Headquarters. Don't worry, nothing happened that you'd want to know about. But something's happening this week. I'll tell you about it and then I've got a new song for you. 

Come on Out — Durham, Friday Aug. 30

I'm the first act in the first show of a new series: Vito Dito's 5th Friday Hang-N-Rock, which will happen whenever there's a fifth Friday in a month. That happens every few months. And it happens this Friday. 

Lemme drop a flyer here and then I'll tell you about it. 

It's an early show. I start at 7 p.m. I'll set an alarm to make sure I'm out of bed in time. 

It'll be an indie-folk kinda night. I'll be followed by Wooden Rings, which is "Lush original blends of folk and rock featuring Ramah Jihan Malebranche, a Haitian immigrant new to the Triangle from Chicago," and then the headliners, Living Earth: "Joyful music for angry optimists featuring the shortest, fattest, brownest and baldest lead singer in Durham, Vito Dito." 

It's always great to be able to walk to a gig. If you don't know Moon Dog Meadery, it's a great spot a couple blocks from my house, which I'll remind you is the Birthplace of the Blues. The show is all ages, but if you're 21 you can enjoy the 7 meads on tap — yeah, meads — and 200 beers, plus some of those THC drinks that are legal in North Carolina.

I mean, pace yourself.

Moon Dog Meadery is at 1104 Broad Street, down the stairs to the left of Joe Van Gogh. Here's the flyer you might see on telephone polls in Durham:

The Human Touch

The King Teen Newsletter completists will recognize The Human Touch as the Song of the Newsletter from June 3, but that was just the first verse, because I didn't have a video of the whole song that I liked. Now I do so here it is. 

It was made at Moon Dog Meadery this weekend, so if you come out Friday you can re-live this video. 

No AI chatbots were harmed, or otherwise engaged with, during the creation of this song or video, although it was based on my experience of asking a chatbot to write a song, which went poorly for me and even worse for the chatbot.

I have a joke I sometimes use to introduce this song and I keep changing the wording hoping that one of these days it'll get a laugh. I think I got a mild chuckle with this version: People thnk AI is going to take away a lot of people's jobs. It hasn't taken away my job. But I keep hoping.
