Cancelled shows this week

I had a couple of shows this week that I'd been planning to tell you about, but now I'm in your inbox to say I've had to pull out of them.

I'm in Southern California, where my dad died this morning after a very brief illness.

My dad was definitely not a look-at-the-cute-baby!!! type, but he was the kind of guy who could surprise you from time to time, so in a way it's not entirely out of character that he always said this photo, taken in 1938 when he was about 18 months old, was his favorite picture of himself.

He also surprised me last week by talking about his memorial service. He HATED memorial services. When I said I was surprised to hear him planning one he just kinda shrugged. I said at least you won't have to come to this one.

He shrugged at that too.

I was hardly scheduled to be the main event at either show this week, so I encourage you to go and check out literally dozens of wonderful performers at those two shows:

Moon Dog Meadery, Durham, 7 p.m.

Eco-Music Mini-Fest DRM — Wigg Report, Living Earth, Ken Moshesh & Friends, Anna Weaver and lots of other art and film. These shows are very fun! Details here.

The Eco-Music Mini-Fest will be running it back in Raleigh on May 3 at Neptune's. I should be at that one.

New Record!

I'll be back in touch soon to tell you about my new seven-song EP, Us Ugly Guys Got Style, which is coming out May 30 on Bandcamp and in physical CD form in the actual world.

Also mark May 30 on your calendar because that's when I'll be having a CD Release Party at the Cave, with Jimmie Ray Swagger and the Fussy Eaters headlining.

The advance single, Dream Not Found, will be out on Bandcamp and streaming May 5. That's the date you'll be able to pre-order the EP, and if you do that, you'll get a BONUS TRACK!

Here's two versions of the artwork for Dream Not Found. The post card one is the "real" one as far as I'm concerned, but my distributor won't take artwork that has writing other than the artist name and song/album title, so I had to make an alternative for the evil streaming services.
