As you can see I've returned to the Pop-up Video format from three newsletter editions ago, which made me a star.
I first heard
this song on Halloween night 1980, when teenage me went to see Bruce Springsteen at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, which I've just learned Springsteen used to refer to as "The Dump That Jumps."
That's a great name, though the L.A. Sports Arena would have had to step up in class several times to get to
"dump."
Anyway, they carried him onstage in a coffin and he jumped out and sang this song, and bizarrely obsessive Bruce Springsteen Internet has informed me that that was the only time Bruce ever performed it in public. And this is the only time I've ever performed it in public, so we're the same.
Come on out
I really really want you to come out to The Cave in Chapel Hill on Sunday, November 24. That's why I'm talking about it so far in advance. It's the start of a holiday week so even if you have to go to work on Monday you know you're just going to goof off all day so come on out. If you're in the Triangle you really should. And if you're not, fly in. Come on
babies.
I'll be playing with Living Earth and Wooden Rings again, so if you missed the really good show — really, not lying like I sometimes do, but I always tell you — of that same bill in August, now's your chance at redemption Plus, the show will be hosted by poet/spoken word artist Anna Weaver, who will also perform, and who is just ridiculously badass.
