Just a quick note to let you know I was lying in my last newsletter when I said last Friday's show at Speakeasy Carrboro would be my last one of the year. I'm playing a show tomorrow. 

OK, I did say it was my last show of the year "unless something unexpected comes up in the last few weeks." And something did: The "Save the Queer Bar Party" at Ruby Deluxe in Raleigh. 

Ruby Deluxe is a bar in downtown Raleigh that says it lost a lot of income in November because it had to close due to a city sewer line issue and got no break from the landlord. 

In November they put out word about this party and asked for local talent to volunteer to play. I said I'd be happy to play, making clear I'm not queer and not wanting to play if it pushed someone from the community off the bill. I didn't expect to hear back and didn't — until Tuesday night, when I was asked to play.

I don't know if that's a sign of chaotic planning or a last-minute cancellation, but I'm in. I also don't know anything else about the evening's entertainment. I just know I'm playing a 25-minute set at 8:15, so if you're around and you've got a few bucks and you want to help save a queer bar, come on out! 415 S. Salisbury St., Raleigh.
