Happy eclipse day! I don't really have anything to say about eclipses, and the Song of the Newsletter isn't Total Eclipse of the Heart. I'm just going for the SEO.
I promised myself when I restarted this music thing that I would take everything I'd learned about SEO and content
marketing in my journalism career and not use any of it because man that stuff's boring and annoying and by the way it's helping to destroy society.
But I've decided to give myself an occasional pass to use it really stupidly. We must follow our respective muses where they lead us, my friends.
There is no Song of the Newsletter this time for three reasons. The first is secret, the second is none of your business, and the third is that this is a short newsletter to tell you about two things that are happening Thursday.
The first thing
My new single is dropping Thursday! It's called There Goes the Neighborhood, and it's already been declined by some of Spotify's finest playlists.
But you're better than they are, so I'm sure you'll want to give it a spin, add it to your playlists, share it on your socials, and possibly organize a small but dangerous cult with the song as its center.
Just a suggestion.
Here's what your cult's iconography would look like:
Please take a second to follow me on Spotify, or whatever music streaming service you use. You can also find me on Bandcamp, where you'll be able to BUY your own keeper copy of the song for any
amount you want, starting at the low-low price of $0.00.
If you click that link before Thursday it'll default to the only song I have up on Bandcamp so far, Dead Mall, but Thursday it'll go to an artist page with both songs on it. I think.
Playing the song on Thursday will give the Spotify algorithm a little tickle and maybe
push the song out to more people. I think. I'd appreciate it either way.
The second thing: Come on out
I'm going to celebrate the release of my second single by playing my "home" open mic:
Come on out, eat one of their great sandwiches, have some beer or wine or THC beverages, and enjoy a bunch of good musicians and a 15-minute set by me.
There will be another newsletter on Thursday. That one will have a Song of the Newsletter. Guess what it's going to be!
If you're reading this on mobile and the type is small, I'm trying to get the newsletter company to fix that problem, which they say can't be
happening. Let's hope they're right and everything's fine!

If you like anything I do, you can help me out by forwarding this email to at least one person who you think would also like it
Keep me out of your junk folder
For Gmail, that means moving this email to your Primary Tab (desktop: drag and drop; mobile, hit the 3-dot thing) and adding king@kingteenmusic.com to your
contacts. For Apple Mail it means tapping the email address at the top of this message and selecting "Add to VIPs." Here's more help.
