Note that early time slot. 6-7:30 p.m.
The Co-op calls these things Songwriter Circles. Sometimes they're called Guitar Pulls, after the tradition of a bunch of people sitting around on let's say a porch somewhere and
passing a guitar around, each person singing a song and then passing the guitar on. You pull the guitar into your lap from the previous person and sing your song, see?
So this'll be a guitar pull with me, Rich Scher and Susan Riggs taking turns singing our songs and talking about em, except we'll all play our own guitars. I don't like to pass my guitar on to other players because I
don't want it getting the idea that things could be better.
Last newsletter's Song
of the Newsletter was Convict Trump, sung to the tune of Charlie Brown, which I'm surprised hasn't earned me a takedown notice yet from Sony Music. Since
then, on the suggestion of my friend Bobbie, who earned herself her first songwriting credit for it, I've made up a new Trump song called Shark Week, inspired by his recent ruminations about sharks and electric boats.
I've played it out twice so far, and haven't come close to remembering all the words and chords correctly. It's like a cognitive test that I have NOT been acing. Come on out
to Abbey Road Wednesday and see if the third time's the charm.
